Sassenach CMS 1.0 Progress

Almost 9 months have passed since the last release of Sassenach CMS. For some of that time, the project has laid dormant due to lack of time, but there has been the odd flurry of progress.

Tonight, I committed some new code to the Sassenach CMS Launchpad project. The latest work features a thoroughly revised backend and a global dashboard. It is still some way off from another official release, but feel free to play around with the code as it is.

I do not recommend using this code on live websites. I don't even run it on mine yet. There are probably a few gaping errors with it as it is the merging of three modified versions of Sassenach 0.9.

Features still to be added in this release: documentation, user account control, profiles, ajax implementation, new default styling. Some of these may be put back to an incremental release, but we'll see how it goes...

Sassenach CMS 0.9 Released

Finally, after months of development, the first release of Sassenach CMS is ready. This is a first, almost-ready 0.9 release and is available for testing. Feedback is welcome via the contact page on my website. If you find any bugs, please report them either through that, or on Launchpad. All feedback will be taken into account for thwe next, 1.0 release which should be ready later in the year. I have already made good progress with this and will post more details soon.

Sassenach CMS 0.9 (269Kb)

Please note, if you do download this release, it is vitally important that you remove the /backend/install/ directory after install. If you
do not do this, your Sassenach CMS database tables can be wiped out by
anyone in approximately 5 seconds - and you don't really want that, do
you?

Hello World! Sassenach CMS Is Here!

Welcome to the Sassenach CMS website. Sassenach is a project aiming to provide the resources required for non-technical people to run a website without hassle. The project does not have a fully stable release yet, but is close to a stable release.

There is not, at the moment, a great deal of information about Sassenach on this website, but I am working on putting more content up as quickly as I can. The code is not quite ready for me to recommend it for public use, but the code is available from Launchpad and can be pulled by using Bazaar. Please do test it out and see what you think. A stable release will come shortly.

This website is using Sassenach currently and there are no serious concerns with using the software, but it is not officially supported. That said, if you do install it and play around with it, I will gladly help you with any problems you encounter any as they will help to improve the system - I just wouldn't recommend using it for anything vitally important just yet!
